Ever since the GOP lost the 2012 election, approximately 17 months ago, the Republicans have been holding an exceedingly erudite debate as to what to do next so as to spread the party's essential message, which is Freedom. You would not believe how smart and thinkful this debate has become. It is so intelligent you would literally shit yourself contemplating the brainpower behind it all.
In order to make sure all sides are heard, so as you might appreciate all the Subtle Nuances of the Right-Wing Intelligentsia, we here at Whiskey Fire present you with the Wisdom of the Eminently Serious and Halfway Presentable Ross Douthat, as contrasted with the musings of a Genuine Tribune of the Authentic American Spirit, namely, some nondescript tit from Townhall spouting the usual horseshit.
Ross!
WINNING an election doesn’t just offer the chance to govern the country.
It offers a chance to feel morally and intellectually superior to the
party you’ve just beaten. This is an inescapable aspect of democratic
culture: no matter what reason tells us about the vagaries of politics,
something in the American subconscious assumes that the voice of the
people really is the voice of God, and that being part of a winning
coalition must be a sign that you’re His chosen one as well.
This means the losing coalition must be doomed to wander east of Eden,
and liberals have been having a good time with this idea of late. “Those
poor, benighted Republicans!” runs the subtext of their postelection
commentary. “They can’t read polls! They can’t reach Hispanics! They
don’t understand women! They don’t have a team of Silicon Valley
sorcerers running their turnout operations!”
Ha! Stupid arrogant liberals are stupid and arrogant for believing things that are accurate.
Nondescript tit!
During the Los Angeles riots of 1992, Rodney King famously asked,
“Can’t we all just get along?” The answer should be an easy and
unequivocal “yes,” but it seems less and less likely these days.
King was speaking in term of race, but the same could be said of
political ideology. Liberals, conservatives and every other point on the
political spectrum used to co-exist fairly easily (with the exception
of left-wing anarchists who don’t get along with anyone). But these days
détente has given way to anger and open hostility.
Some, not all, people have become less civil to those with whom they
disagree politically. The modern left, birthed with the start of the
eugenics-loving, racist progressive movement at the turn of the 20th century, always has embraced, to varying degrees, the concept of
silencing opponents. Through the factions of communism, socialism and
fascism (all takes on the same philosophy), leftists have made
continuous attempts to silence and punish anyone who doesn’t toe their
line.
Fuck! Stupid arrogant liberals are Hitlerstalin, and as such, have ruined Civil Debate.
Ross!
Back in 2011, the Obama White House earned some mild mockery for its
“win the future” slogan. But now that the president has been re-elected,
the liberal conventional wisdom is that the Democrats have done just
that — that Republicans are now Radio Shack to their Apple store, “The
Waltons” to their “Modern Family,” a mediocre Norman Rockwell to their
digital-age mosaic.
This isn't glib bullshit -- this is the New York Times.
Nondescript tit!
President Woodrow Wilson, a progressive hero, made it illegal to speak German in this country and, in the Sedition Act of 1917,
outlawed the use of “disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive
language” against the government, flag or military. Wilson’s rabid
racism and implementation of segregationist policies in the federal
government are routinely ignored by progressives today. But they are all too real and did enormous and lasting damage to our nation.
Damn Wilson anyhow for punishing free-marketeers like Eugene Debs.
Ross!
Liberals look at the Obama majority and see a coalition bound together
by enlightened values — reason rather than superstition, tolerance
rather than bigotry, equality rather than hierarchy. But it’s just as
easy to see a coalition created by social disintegration and unified by
economic fear.
That is a Key Difference, because you cannot possibly be enlightened and possessed of reason and yet also be able to properly identify exactly who is most likely to screw you financially.
Nondescript tit!
But that was (and still is) what progressives stood for. They were the
elites, the smartest the nation had to offer. And, as such, it was up to
them to “improve” the world through government action. They were white,
so blacks were inferior. They were smart, so anyone they deemed not to
be was inferior, and so on. They believed certain “undesirable” people
should be sterilized and thus bred out of existence.
Ha! Stipid arrogant liberals are the real racists. Black people voted for Obama because they are elitists who hate black people.
Ross!
Consider the Hispanic vote. Are Democrats winning Hispanics because they
put forward a more welcoming face than Republicans do — one more in
keeping with America’s tradition of assimilating migrants yearning to
breathe free? Yes, up to a point. But they’re also winning recent
immigrants because those immigrants often aren’t assimilating
successfully — or worse, are assimilating downward, thanks to rising out-of-wedlock birthrates and high dropout rates.
The Democratic edge among Hispanics depends heavily on these darker
trends: the weaker that families and communities are, the more necessary
government support inevitably seems.
Stupid arrogant liberals are winning Hispanics because Hispanics are degenerates.
Nondescript tit!
This “progressive” attitude toward reality is now amplified by the web
of social media, which empowers the spread of their fact-lacking desires
to once-unheard drones who parrot it unquestioned to the world. Like a
cold virus on a plane, it spreads. The truth, or even a desire to find
it (as in the case of Benghazi), immediately butts up against a wall of
willful ignorance built by a left-wing industrial complex of moneyed
interests and true believers. No amount of contradictory evidence can
convince them what actually is if they wish it not to be.
Ha! Stupid arrogant liberals are stupid and arrogant for believing things that are accurate.
Ross!
It’s not a coincidence that the economic era that many liberals pine for
— the great, egalitarian post-World War II boom — was an era that
social conservatives remember fondly as well: a time of leaping church
attendance, rising marriage rates and birthrates, and widespread civic
renewal and engagement.
Liberals pine for the days when we could all be as fond of civic engagement as Bull Connor.
Nondescript tit!
The right has its own version of this suborn, wishfully ignorant army.
But it is smaller with much less funding. The reason this hive-mindset
doesn’t translate to the right is we are not all of like minds.
Priorities to one conservative are not priorities to another. Diversity
of opinion not only exists on the political right, it is encouraged.
Nothing less would be accepted from a philosophy based on the
individual.
He owes this open-minded attitude to the same cosmopolitan ideology that has led him to call a majority of his fellow citizens dupes or fascists.
Ross!
No such renewal seems to be on the horizon. That isn’t a judgment on the
Obama White House, necessarily. But it is a judgment on a certain kind
of blithe liberal optimism, and the confidence with which many Democrats
assume their newly emerged majority is a sign of progress rather than
decline.
Stupid liberals, not realizing that their win is based on the unappetizing fuck-habits of swarthy foreigners.
Nondescript tit!
When Rodney King asked his famous question, we really could have all
gotten along. But the intervening years saw the rejection of a liberal,
almost moderate, left and the rebirth of a philosophy spawned from
hatred and division with the sole goal of control. Although a great many
Americans support this goal, the wool has been pulled over the eyes of
many more who’ve been fooled into thinking liberty is a chip to be
bartered for a crumb of pie rather than the key to making your own.
Yes, when we look back on the Rodney King incident, most of us think "hooray for unity." But too many of us don't understand that liberty is not a "chip" of the sort that you would find in a casino and then trade for a tiny, unwanted pie-fragment, but instead a key of the door-unlocking variety, an object that can open the door of the oven that you can use to manufacture your own tiny, unwanted pie-fragment.
So, as you can see, whether you read them in the New York Times or Townhall, the Conservative Movement has lots and lots of Deep Thinkers who will surely save the GOP from doing or saying anything stupid ever again ever.
