The 50-year-old battle to get fluoride(s) out of the Irish water supply kicked into high gear this summer as (impromptu) strippers thronged St. Stephen’s Green in support of a Sinn Féin bill, which is currently before the Dáil, to ban the controversial practice.

Leading the campaign is Aisling Fitzgibbon, a 26-year-old nutritionist from Tralee, who is taking the government to court. She has more than 8,000 supporters, including musicians Paddy Casey and Christy Moore.

Aisling has been stripping in public to highlight how the Irish government’s forced fluoridation policy puts her health at risk – by stripping her of her right to drink unmedicated water. Her mother Martha, who is a teacher, suggested the campaign might get more attention if Aisling took her clothes off, after her earlier attempts to highlight forced fluoridation as a human rights abuse in Ireland, were largely ignored.

If you think water flouridation does anything but make kids' teeth better, you're a goddamn idiot.

I have heretofore never remotely imagined that I would have ever had a cogent, sober reason for advising anyone to keep their clothes on in Stephen's Green.

I hate these people.

As a counter-protest, I recommend people keep their damn clothes on as a means of saying "we want our kids to have healthy teeth." Then when the loonies leave, everyone gets comfortably nekkid and happily boozed at a fantastic public party to which the nitwits are not invited.

For instance, J. Edgar Hoover was not at all gay. This would be according to "Edward S. Miller, a lifetime FBI man of high rank and stature, recently passed away at the age of 89. A good man and good American, Miller, who was also a veteran of World War II (Okinawa), faithfully served his family, country, and God." This is as reported by Paul Kengor, author of the very scholarly The Communist: Frank Marshall Davis, The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mentor.

And why would anyone think Hoover was gay? COMMIES, that's why.

Hoover's political enemies on the soft left and (especially) the hard left smeared him with false claims. No one excelled at disinformation and blatantly vicious lies and character assassination quite like the Communist Party.

Except maybe, I don't know, J. Edgar Hoover -- or so would say the vicious, hypocritical, Real Bigots™, the Hard Left (meaning you, redsnouts). (Or else, maybe, Eleanor Roosevelt.) But Kengor has Proof of the Commie Smear Campaign, PROOF!

For the record, I'm no expert on J. Edgar Hoover. I cannot confirm all that Ed Miller told me about the man.

Also, and this is pretty great, J. Edgar Hoover was totally not a racist.

Miller proceeded to give me example after example. Among them, here's one that will throw liberals for a loop, clashing as it does with their ideological prejudices:

"We needed black agents," said Miller of the FBI of the 1960s. "We needed them badly. I went out and hired 13 black agents in one fell swoop, and he [Hoover] approved every single one of them. I put together a new group of 56 agents altogether, 13 of them black. And Hoover said, 'This is the finest class of agents I've ever seen.' They were really well educated, athletic, great shape. And Hoover, as director, personally shook the hands of all 56 in his office."

Gosh. I am surely loop-thrown.

Whyever did J. Edgar Hoover suddenly "badly need" black FBI agents in the 1960s? I just do not know. Whatever did Hoover want these black agents to do, oh goodness I am not certain, but absolutely definitely it was in the cause of defeating vicious attacks on civil rights leaders.

I mean, if Hoover was a "racist," would he have admired how surprisingly educated these strapping "athletic" bucks were? And to have gone so far as to do something so astounding as to have shaken their hands, just as if they had gotten the exact same job as a white person? What a hero!

My ideological prejudices, they have been duly clashed.

One prays that the end of the cruel injustices inflicted upon America by the recently eviscerated Voting Rights Act will give rise to a new generation of anti-racist heroes, like, say J. Edgar Hoover. Who was totally boning Dorothy Lamour. Or was it Sonja Henie? Whatever.

Truly the American future is boundlessly glorious.

"Tread lightly" is great stuff.

The official GOP position in any GOP-controlled state (or US Supreme Court) is that they are going to make it as hard as they possibly can to make for blacks to vote. If you don't want to be perceived as a "bigot," well, get your party to stop doing that.

Putin's Russia is a disgusting place, a sewer with the rats in charge. This is sickening.

Read the whole thing, and watch the whole thing.

It's the worst. I mean: that is humanity at its absolute worst.

This absolutely cannot stand -- Russia, allowed to fester like this? With its natural resources, immense sense of national resentment and entitlement, and fragile democratic tradition it hates anyway?

And these vicious videos?

There is absolutely NO WAY the United States ought to participate in any Olympic games held in Russia unless these proto-mass murder circumstances are immediately ended.

Whatever about the vodka thing.

Russia is clearly guilty of widespread human rights abuses.

A nation that tolerates or encourages persecution, torture, or murder, cannot plausibly host a sports competition that claims its intent is to encourage humane values.

I respect this point of view:

It is not just in the realm of political commentary that The American Spectator employs giggling nitwits, Whee.

The Yankees are hosting the Tampa Bay Rays and are presently six and a half games behind the Boston Red Sox in the AL East. I predict that Soriano will be the spark which leads the Yankees into the post-season.

The Yankees may indeed make the wildcard, stranger things have happened, but overall, hahahaha.

That aside, I note this post chiefly for a particular specimen of faux-analytical glib-shittery:

Soriano hasn’t been in a pennant race in five years and this deal also gives him the psychological boost of effectively replacing the man for whom he was traded nearly a decade ago.

Will this "psychological boost" propel him from home plate to first base in under an hour? That remains to be seen. Maybe the terms of his contract will allow him to use a Sedgway to round the basepaths. And on the back of it he can put a bumpersticker, like, you know, "ask me about my grandchildren."

The Attorney General is telling Texas that it can't impose racist voting restrictions, even though John Roberts just said, "hey Texas, impose racist voting restictions."

The most bleakly amusing reaction to this news emanates from this Reaganozoic Era copralite at the National Review.

It is now being reported that Eric Holder plans to bring voting-rights actions not only against Texas, as was announced earlier today, but against a number of other states, too. This suggests one of two things, neither of which is particularly good for the administration. If Mr. Holder thinks he can win these lawsuits by proving actual racial discrimination in these states, then this is strong evidence that there is no need to add more provisions to the Voting Rights Act, the gloom-and-doom protestations of the critics of the Supreme Court’s recent Shelby County decision (like the attorney general and President Obama) to the contrary notwithstanding. If, on the other hand, he doesn’t think he can win these lawsuits, then they are being brought as a sop to the administration’s political base, which is an irresponsible action by our nation’s top law-enforcement official.

Gosh.

Proposition the First: If the United States Attorney General can legally prove that voter ID laws are racist, that will be an astounding personal humiliation for himself and his boss.

That is crazy.

If the Attorney General of the United States can prove that a specific state, like say Texas, is actively engaging in racial discrimination as to the right to vote, that is a "neener neener" for the federal government's case that specific states tend to engage in racial discrimination as to the right to vote?
