"Consent"? Whatever Could That Be? What a Puzzle!

Proving yet again that (1) nobody can whine at quite the earsplitting volume as our friends on the Right, and that (2) nothing foxes them quite so profoundly as the concept of "consent," comes this remarkable, pig-snivelling, resentful oink from John Nolte over at Big Dead Bloatbart:

No Media Outrage After Sotomayor 'Compares' Homosexuality to Incest

If you want proof of how vicious the mainstream media is when it comes to punishing black conservatives for daring to be black and conservative, look no further than the media's coordinated attack against the openly conservative Dr. Ben Carson for making the exact same kind of argument about same-sex marriage as Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor did on the exact same day.

You see, Doctor Carson said this:

Marriage is between a man and a woman. It is a well-established fundamental pillar of society, and no group -- be they gays, be they NAMBLA [North American Man/Boy Love Association], be they people who believe in bestiality -- no matter what they are, they don't get to change the definition. So it's not something that's against gays; it's against anybody who wants to come along and change the fundamental definition of pillars of society.  It has significant ramifications.

And then noted Plantation Overseers Wolf Blitzer and Andrea Mitchell asked him about it on the teevee --  which was exactly as bad Jim Crow-level discrimination all over again. Though Nolte, bless his charred little heart, invokes a Key Knucklehead Kodicil:

Mitchell and Blitzer are not racists, but they do need to take a step back and realize that, in their zeal to aid and abet the left, they are wielding the same kind of double standards and show-trials of humiliation we saw in the segregated South.

The "not racist" exemption is there because, as is known, the cruelest form or racism that has ever existed occurs when a white person is called a racist. And a civil-rights expert of Nolte's class would never stoop so low, as he is a Gentleman of Honor, suh, and thus precisely as sensitive to such insults as, I don't know, Preston S. Brooks.

But anyhow Nolte says he has PROOF! that the Liberal Mainstream Media are the Real Racists, even if none of the whilte people in it are racists themselves, and Nolte jim-crows this PROOF! to the mountaintops! PREACH IT!

If you want proof that what NBC News and CNN engaged in yesterday was nothing more than an ideological witch hunt against a racial apostate, where was the outrage from this very same media on Tuesday after Justice Sotomayor raised the exact same kind of slippery-slope argument Carson did, herself citing illegal and immoral examples?

Because Sotomayor said:

Mr. Olson, the bottom line that you're being asked -- and -- and it is one that I'm interested in the answer: If you say that marriage is a fundamental right, what State restrictions could ever exist? Meaning, what State restrictions with respect to the number of people, with respect to -- that could get married -- the incest laws, the mother and the child, assuming they are of age -- I can -- I can accept that the State has probably an overbearing interest on -- on protecting the a child until they're of age to marry, but what's left?

According to Nolte,

I do not believe Sotomayor compared homosexuality to anything. What she did is what Dr. Carson did: she played devil's advocate about the slippery-slope of what might come next if we open the Pandora's box of changing the definition of marriage. And to make that argument, like Dr. Carson, she used illegal and immoral relationships (not homosexuality) as slippery slope concerns should the definition of marriage be held to include gay marriage.

... which is stupid.

Whether or not Nolte is being wilfully stupid or just plain stupid is immaterial.

Because, you know, consent is a thing, as Sotomayor stresses, with the "assuming they are of age" phrase. Children, as in NAMBLA, are not of age, and beasts, as in beastiality, cannot agree to sex with a person.

This is not a difficult distinction, and so no, Carson and Sotomayor were not saying the same thing. Even "the horror of incest" (Nolte's phrase) between, as specified, among consenting adults does not compare to child rape or squirrel molesting.

Further "proof" that Nolte's post is dog-whistling to rabid curs may be found in his comments section, as well as the approving links from the usual snotnoses he has received.

Also, too, if you have no moral problem with a particular group of people, you are unlikely to suggest that granting them equal legal rights will lead to unrestricted sex with children. No, really.

So apparently the Evil Gay Jihad as predicted by Erick Erick Prophetson has come to pass.

Ben Carson, the noted pediatric neurosurgeon, has become the target of a petition by Johns Hopkins students who want him removed as the medical school’s commencement speaker this spring.

Dr. Carson became a media sensation in January when he questioned Obamacare and progressive taxation in a speech to the National Prayer Breakfast as President Obama sat just a few feet away from him.

With his new prominence, Carson has apparently also riled some liberals, including these Johns Hopkins students. Last Tuesday, he told Sean Hannity of Fox News that “marriage is between a man and a woman. No group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn’t matter what they are, they don’t get to change the definition.”

So he's very good at surgery, but otherwise he's a hateful, pig-ignorant nitwit.

Yeah, it is a Complete Mystery why the lawyers arguing the already bad case against gay marriage didn't bring up this particular non-exceptionable, stereotype-free point before the highest court in the land.

Oral arguments on gay marriage take place before the Supreme Court the last week of March, and the pile of amicus briefs filed by interested parties long ago passed the point of redundancy. We prefer briefs filed by disinterested parties, such as the one put before the Court earlier in the month by Leon Kass of the University of Chicago and Harvey Mansfield of Harvard University.

TWO!

Kass and Mansfield are well-known conservatives, as well as men practiced in the business of social science, and we may presume that they’re skeptical of gay marriage. This makes their amicus brief a necessary complement to another brief that has received much more publicity....

Any Christian who refuses to recognize that man wants to upend God’s order will have to be driven from the national conversation. They will be labeled bigots and ultimately criminals.

The DoJ is prosecuting "young hackers who use computers"? Is that not rather a point in their favor, as a sting aimed at "young hackers who don't use computers" might well turn out an absolute bust?

And do there as a factual matter exist "highly educated adults within the DOJ [who] threaten to use lethal drone force against American citizens without due process"? This is a controversial issue...

Never mind.

Certainly, I do not condone hacking. However, you and I need to start talking about the best way to handle cyber-attacks while also recognizing that the same government officials we trust to protect us are assaulting our constitutional freedoms.

Well, I suppose I agree that this thing that is bad but is also good because of foreigners who are bad while at the same time the we who is us are also the them who are us who are bad simultaneously.

Throwing smart, talented hackers in jail or sending them scurrying to Canada will likely incite more cyber-attacks. Perhaps we could offer these young hackers immunity from prosecution in exchange for a position protecting U.S. infrastructure, cellphone networks and utilities from foreign cyber-attacks. They might refuse the offer but it seems worth a shot.

Well, that is something like an idea! GEEKS DEFY BEIJING!

I also think our government should try to peacefully and productively harness the incredible talent in these young hackers instead of letting it go to waste in a prison cell. I am not saying we should reward hacktivists for damaging pranks. Hacking is wrong. However, I am sure most Americans are glad that Steve Jobs, Bill Joy and Steve Wozniak did not waste their youth and talent in prison because they were smart and bold enough to experiment with hacking. Plus, don’t you question the integrity of DOJ officials who propose using drones against American citizens while acting like they are heroes for hunting down teenage programmers?

The federal government has no business, per the Constitution, hyper-regulating our free speech or commerce on the internet. Hacker groups like Anonymous oppose excessive government intrusion and will continue to disrupt sites like the Department of Justice until our government starts reforming its ways.

Uh, the federal government has precisely such business, per the Constitution and a couple hundred years of federal jurisprudence.

And I'm not even sure Anonymous are libertarian like that as opposed to just a "bunch of online assholes." Which is not an insult! I'm an online asshole! But I'm a left-liberal online asshole, and I own that and make no apologies. Anonymous, I don't know; they're their own thing, though, and if you want to claim them as Your Cool in a fucking Townhall column...
