There are now exists a Full Metric Shitload of Right-Wing Explanations for why Sandra Fluke is a Silly Bint Distraction.
The phenomenon fascinates.
Right wingers are very vocal about how Ordinary Americans don't want to hear what Sandra Fluke wants to say; and also conservatives are very vocally angry about how Sandra Fluke is talking about this thing that nobody cares about so she is stupid and should shut up shut up shut up!
I mean, holy toboggans. It's weird. Let's catalogue!
“So at the Democratic Convention Wednesday night their first prime time speaker was Sandra Fluke, whatever her name is,” Walsh said. “Think about this, a 31-32 year old law student who has been a student for life, who gets up there in front of a national audience and tells the American people, ‘I want America to pay for my contraceptives.’ You’re kidding me. Go get a job. Go get a job Sandra Fluke.”
“This a woman who feels entitled that we all should pay for her contraceptives,” he said. “This is what we are teaching Americans? That was embarrassing. That was embarrassing.”
What a fabulously confident and ingenuous-seeming political narcissist Ms. Fluke is. She really does think—and her party apparently thinks—that in a spending crisis with trillions in debt and many in need, in a nation in existential doubt as to its standing and purpose, in a time when parents struggle to buy the good sneakers for the kids so they're not embarrassed at school . . . that in that nation the great issue of the day, and the appropriate focus of our concern, is making other people pay for her birth-control pills. That's not a stand, it's a non sequitur. She is not, as Rush Limbaugh oafishly, bullyingly said, a slut. She is a ninny, a narcissist and a fool.
So this is America’s best and brightest — or, at any rate, most expensively credentialed. Sandra Fluke has been blessed with a quarter-million dollars of elite education, and, on the evidence of Wednesday night, is entirely incapable of making a coherent argument. She has enjoyed the leisurely decade-long varsity once reserved for the minor sons of Mitteleuropean grand dukes, and she has concluded that the most urgent need facing the Brokest Nation in History is for someone else to pay for the contraception of 30-year-old children.
And that's just the cream of the twitberg.
They hate Sandra Fluke. They've learned not to call her a slut, but they hate her.
This fascinates.
She is stupid! Doesn't she know there is a national debt, but she still wants her contraception paid for as if it were any any other medical issue? She is narcissistic! Doesn't she know that when you pay into a private medical insurance scheme financed by your wages, the government pays for that (?). Doesn't she know that your employer ought to have the right to dictate your medical choices because your boss' conscience trumps yours?
I kind of suspect that they know this class of Mark Steyn shit is shit:She says the choice facing America is whether to be “a country where we mean it when we talk about personal freedom, or one where that freedom doesn’t apply to our bodies and our voices” — and, even as the words fall leaden from her lips, she doesn’t seem to comprehend that Catholic institutions think their “voices” ought to have freedom, too, or that Obamacare seizes jurisdiction over “our bodies” and has 16,000 new IRS agents ready to fine us for not making arrangements for “our” pancreases and “our” bladders that meet the approval of the commissars. Sexual liberty, even as every other liberty withers, is all that matters: A middle-school girl is free to get an abortion without parental consent, but if she puts a lemonade stand on her lawn she’ll be fined. What a bleak and reductive concept of “personal freedom.”
Has he been helped?
Anyway, I am Sandra Fluke. What I mean is, yeah, contraception should be part of insurance plans.
I am a FUCKING BADASS.
Uh, also, I'm married, in a heterosexual longterm relationship, we have sex (I know!), we have kids... and we still use contraception! The pill, even!
What they mean is, even if you're lucky enough to have a job at all, they think your boss should have the right to decide your genitalia issues.
And then they want to say they are all about freedom.
You can see their problem....
