Well today was certainly very exciting! And I suppose I am pleased with the outcome, on balance. The ACA is weak tea from a progressive perspective, but it is an improvement over the status quo.
Though my soul is nowhere near as unstain'd as that of Chris Bowers.
Seeing tea party types upset over the Supreme Court ruling doesn't bring me any joy. Millions of people got to keep their health insurance today, and that's what matters. Helping people is why I got into politics, and the few times when I can actually believe our work made a difference are the moments that bring real happiness.
Well, fair enough, and other incarnations of my personality might perhaps appreciate the sentiment. But not Thers. I have always said that I blog out of spite, so the Virgin Ben stuff is to me all kinds of wonderful. Fuck them and may they die choked on the blown spleens of their grandmothers.
But let us not fail to take note of the o'erarching idiocy. Today was a ghastly farce, frankly -- a Masque of the Dead Democracy. I agree with this completely.
Law is the only field of intellectual activity where anyone seriously says "they got it exactly right in the 18th century, case closed."
It is all my balls.
