So some sham "linguist" called Paul J.J. Payack told CNN that Obama's prime time speech last night was too "professorial." Obviously this was meant to be a pejorative, and conservative pundits have not been sparing in their use of it over the last few years. Take umbrage as you see fit, but some part of me hopes it sticks. As it stands, there are vast swaths of the American population that are constitutionally incapable of reconciling the image of Obama with the image people like Payack are peddling, which is basically Stellan Skarsgard in Good Will Hunting. So, good luck with that.
As for the speech itself, I'd say Obama did what he didn't Need to Do, and didn't do what he didn't not Need to Do. Go ahead, convince me otherwise.
