Because I am a patriot, I recall this past July 3 with startling clarity. That was the day on which Sarah Palin resigned her office so that her Lieutenant Governor could take over her lame duck administration. Marking the occasion, Erick Erickson wrote, with the caveat that he should "perhaps...keep [his] mouth shut now," the funniest thing I have ever read on the internet:
This is kind of like Ben Kenobi letting Darth Vader strike him down.
Granting that her Facebook page is inexplicably a news outlet, Sarah Palin is still decidedly less powerful than I, for one, could possibly imagine.
Today Erickson supposed that Glenn Beck has similarly become one with the Force.
It appears that the left’s urgent boycott of Glenn Beck’s advertisers in an effort to destroy Beck is like Darth Vader strking down Kenobi. It’s making Beck more powerful.
And just in case the analogy wasn't perfectly clear:
He is Kenobi.
You know what it's like? It's like Erick Erickson just wants his fallen idols to become the voices in his head. "Remember, Erick, the Force will be with you. Always." Pitchoo, pitchoo, kaboom.
