According to Red State, Janet Napolitano is worse than Star Trek space-villains, The Borg. She is also basically King George III. Red State encourages their very favorite Republican Senators to "man up" and demand that she apologize and resign for "trying to outlaw conservatism." And if she won't, why:
"We, the 41" is nice, reminding us as it does of stupid movies about ancient Greece. Also nice is the threat to "filibuster everything," which they're basically doing already. And the Senate is by nature a black hole when it comes to legislation.
This is all very silly, but not less so than anything else the GOP has been able to come up with lately and for a long time before that. So from their perspective they might as well oil themselves up and strip naked except for cloth underpants, just like the Spartans, and go ahead and angrily quote Star Trek movies on national television; heck, Vitter surely would probably do very well with the funny underwear part of it, at least.
So go for it! Man up! I sincerely hope they do. Since from my perspective, trying to "shut down the government" over something as made-up and goofy as that DHS report nonsense would quickly make it not merely politically possible but probably even politically necessary for even Harry Reid to finally get rid of the goddamn filibuster. Because the most deluded part of that Red State crap is this bit here:
Which is not exactly true. "Shutting down the government" didn't work for them when they were the majority party; why it would work for them now that they're down to the unpleasant crazies is beyond me, but biy do I wish they'd give it a shot, as they seem bound and determined to do anyhow.
