T.A. Frank at the Washington Monthly writes a long article on the indisputable fact that Bob Herbert is an amazingly boring columnist - - and, intentionally and unintentionally — Frank's essay is actually interesting.
Frank argues that Herbert is always right but rarely read. Goldberg, on the other hand, is always wrong and only read for the unintentional yuks he seldom fails to provide.
Advantage, Timesman! Herbert may not have written a book with smiley-face Hitler artwork on the cover, but then, um, he's also never, uh, written a book with smiley-face Hitler artwork on the cover. You have to give him that much, at least.
