The ridiculous New Republic Fraud!!! thing seems to be winding down. So Greater Wingnuttia has found itself a new bright shiny object: Censorship at Yearly Kos! EEEEEK!
You can watch the video with its Mrs. Othmar-quality sound if you like. It's not really worth it -- the Jammies Media fellows promise that it depicts "fireworks," but what it actually shows is some stray maniac trying to take over the question & answer portion of a panel at a convention. Which is pretty compelling stuff if you enjoy getting your teeth pulled.
Now, there is an issue over the fact that said maniac is wearing a military uniform. However, what caught my attention was the fact that the guy brought a binder with him as thick as the phone book and kept opening it up and waving it around as he delivered what was in fact a highly repetitive speech disguised as a question.
The reason this caught my attention is that at every convention I have ever attended, at some point some deranged individual has risen at the end of a panel to do exactly this. No matter what the topic of the panel might be, the Speech-Disguised-as-Question guy gets up and launches into his act, and it's just embarrassing and strange and miserable and excruciating.
Anyway. Others can make hay with the guy giving a political speech while in uniform. For me, it's sufficient to note that he was being a complete and utter twit, acting sort of like a cross between Urkel and Gollum. Please, crazy wingnuts, celebrate him for his martyrdom at a blog convention. That would be terrific. He wasn't "censored" in any meaningful sense of the word. He was acting out. (And he was allowed to go on for quite a while, too -- too long, actually, as these things go.)
(As for his insistence that "I will give you all the money in my pockets if you can prove that my statistics showing that The Surge has reduced civilian casualties"... please.)
