Of all the manias prevalent in Greater Wingnuttia, perhaps the most astounding is their belief that they are all Ace Reporters because they know how to use Google News. Observe for instance this goobery effusion dribbling forth from the Confederate Yankee:
I'm admittedly late to this story, and rather thankful I am, otherwise, I might have erroneously reported with other media and bloggers the apparent pre-mature detonation of a backpack bomber. I don't hold any of the bloggers commenting on this case responsible for the erroneous reporting, which seems to be a case of the professional media once again trying to rush out a story before actually having the facts of the incident verified.
Dumbass. No, bloggers did not "report" this story. A reporter reported on it, and then bloggers linked to it and perhaps added snide commentary on the MSM's failings. Likewise, CY is not "covering" this story, and neither are any of the other wingnut twits wetting their pants in glee because something went boom-boom. They are chattering about this story in a pompous fashion, and then perhaps dressing up like Nancy Drew and pestering people who one should hope have better things to do:
I've sent in an info request to the ATF Arson and Explosives Division seeking clarification of what kind of trigger they have recovered, but considering that the answer would reveal part of an on-going investigation, I don't anticipate any sort of a response.
Then what did you go bugging them for, you lunatic? And speaking of lunatics, there's this bit from the ever-reliably demented Sister Toldjah:
After 9-11, I began to wonder if we’d see the sort of suicide attacks we routinely hear about in Israel, where Palestinian terrorists put explosives in their backpacks and kill people in crowded restaurants, buses, etc. - the kind of backpack attacks that happened in London on 7/7/05, which killed over 50 people. I used to actually get nervous if I saw a Muslim walk into a restaurant I was eating in with a backpack.
I hope that the incident in Vegas is isolated and not part of a coordinated plan for future attacks of this nature.
Oh, phooey. Considering how many Muslims there are in this country, not to mention all the freely available backpacks, eeek, the lack of regular weekly boom-booms in America's IHOPs and Applebees might be put forth as evidence that the Sister Toldjah is a just wee bit hysterical. But it must be fun, no doubt, put on your jammies each night and dream of how you'd bravely face down the Mohammadan Menace should it ever show up in the foyer of your local Chiles...
UPDATE: SToldjah defends herself in her comments, and makes an excellent point:
I didn’t make any accusations - just gave some general thoughts on what hearing about a backpack explosion made me think of. And what it made a lot of other people think of, especially in a post 9-11 world. That is not a crime nor is there anything wrong with it. It’s kind of like the left hearing about a black church being burned, and wondering if it was racially motivated.
Yeah, it's kind of like that, except the church burning example doesn't have anything to do with unbridled paranoid fantasizing in restaurants. Also, it's a lot less stupid. That's the problem with letting other people in on one's "thoughts," one might inform ST: sometimes, or in her case usually, they make one look like a crazy person.
