Another fascinating bulletin from Earth-W beams in through the Space-Time Rift! "Earth-W," you'll recall, is a parallel Earth, strangely like our own real one, but where the things believed by wingnuts are actually true.
Egged on by the chirpy little sociopath Jules Crittenden, Greater Wingnuttia plans to "freep" MoveOn's member polls about impeachment and resisting The Surge. And after the hilarity dies down they will have dealt a Crushing Blow against the Dhimmicrats and Islamofascism and then everyone will receive a Pony.
Delightful posts from [some wingnut, ed.] and [some other nitwit, ed.] recommend voting yes, early and often, on the MoveOn.org poll to impeach the president, to keep the Dem Cong tied down with silly, self-destructive nonsense. Here’s another one: “We demand that the Congress stand firm against the veto, and include a deadline to end the war in the bill it sends back to the president. No more blank checks for war.”
Vote yes to keep the Democrats bogged down in quagmires of their own making!
Fascinating. Impeachment doesn't seem to have been polled since August 2006, according to PollingReport, where it wasn't popular (30% in favor, 69% opposed; CNN). But according to the most recent polling, impeachment is only slightly less beloved in America than... George W. Bush himself (to use CNN again, 36 approve, 62 disapprove). Since actual impeachment is not on the table and won't be, and since this president really is widely despised here on Earth Prime, there is simply no reason to think that if a lot of people on the Left say on an online petition that he should be impeached that this will hurt the Democrats.
On the other issue, Crittenden is even further out to lunch than usual, munching on cucumber sandwiches on Pluto, or something. The Surge, not surprisingly, is widely disliked. Gallup has 57% supporting timetables for withdrawal -- the Democratic position -- and only 39% in favor of keeping them there forever, the Wingnut Plan. CBS/NYT has an even wider gap. That's some "quagmire" MoveOn is steering the Democratic Party into, Jules, you lunatic. Oh please oh please let's not go there and do something widely popular, Pelosi and Reid!
It seems to me that despite last November the wingnuts just can't let go of the "Civility Thesis," the claim that anyone attacking one of their sacred cows will be perceived as a Bad Person by all Right-Thinking Americans. It hasn't gotten through their beady little heads yet that by now most of the country thinks the best use of said Sacred Cows would be hamburger. Cretins.
