Show Him the Teaching Tool

About the VP debate, who cares. The real question about it is if people saw Palin or... Tina Fey.

The winking didn't help.

MORE. Oy. And she always looks like she's chewing gum.

AND CONFIRMATION: The big winner tonight will be Tina Fey -- of that there can be no question, since you can always safely bet against the maiden-voiced one.

The WINK will become this cycle's The Sigh. It's just too easily mocked. Sorry. (By the way, just a reminder that I didn't invent the inane rules by which debates are judged in this country; I'm just noting their existence.)

FURTHER. Insty reminds us all why the Legacy Media is doomed. "Frank Luntz's focus group thought it was Palin by a mile. Luntz predicts a big shift in the polls toward McCain over the next few days." See? Crappy as they are, there's just no way the MSM can possibly keep "conservatives" or (Lord help us) "libertarians" anywhere near as safely innoculated against reality as the brave citizen journalist truth tellers of the Right Blogosphere.

the culture of "we heart war and the death penalty and guns" life.

oh fuck, sorry, that last comment was a comment intended for another blog entirely. i am no good at multi-tasking w/multiple windows. mia culpa.

so, yeah, what the hell was that winking about? was she trying to pick me up? was it a joke that i didn't get? or maybe she's taking her vpilf personnae too seriously.

she seemed so canned. her jokes were obviously written by someone else a week before, and damned if she wasn't going to get them out!

i think biden way outperformed her, and i wasn't even expecting joe to do that well.

i predict this will tip the polls even further in obama's direction.

The winking was bad. Very, very bad. Everybody I talked to either groaned out loud or just silently felt really embarrassed for her.

She gave a fucking SHOUT OUT! A SHOUT OUT! As if the DJ had deigned to put her on air!

The US would be better off with Bristol.

I will not dignify that question with a response. I've got a full head of talking points to deliver to teh folks at home. Can you just feel my youthful energy?

(in fact...that energy seemed drug *enhanced*)

(in fact...dignity was not on the prep list)

Joe Biden was really very excellent last night.

Things may have changed in America, but I still expect candidates for President and Vice-President to appear as if they had the gravitas to be potential world leaders.

Biden: Appeared as if he could be a world leader. No problem if he gets a 3AM phone call.

Palin: In an attempt to be folksy, she looked like a bake-sale mom -- but the smile-to-your-face, nasty-behind-your-back sort.

And the way she chuckled and preened a little with Biden when it was all over? That's why I call her Kitten.

The libertarians are no threat to the MSM in this regard. They all exist inside a magical force field which keeps reality firmly at bay no matter what happens.

Look, she’s crawling up my wall
White and smarmy, very small
Now she’s up above my head
Hanging by a little thread

Now she’s dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe she’s as scared as me
Where’s she's gone now, I can’t see

Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

There she is wrapped in a ball
Doesn’t seem to move at all
Perhaps she’s dead, I’ll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor

She’s come to a sticky end
Don’t think she will ever mend
Never more will she crawl ’round
She’s embedded in the ground
