When did Andrew Sullivan become The Atlantic Magazine? Why is noted moron Dean Barnett throwing a punch at Sullivan without using his name?
Yesterday on a blog hosted by the prestigious magazine the Atlantic, a post popped up at 11:49 a.m. with the breathless title, “Here We Go.” The post read in its entirety, “Todd Palin's former business partner files an emergency motion to have his divorce papers sealed. Oh God.” The post linked to the Alaskan court system where you could see the motion if you cared to click through.
Although the author didn’t care to make his innuendo explicit, the insinuation was clear – the National Enquirer had previously reported on what it called “a rumor” that the former business partner in question had had an affair with Sarah Palin. The breathless title and the brevity of the post implied that the smoking gun for the affair laid in the court filings that the former business partner wished to conceal. Naturally, because the purported scoop had the imprimatur of the prestigious Atlantic, many other news sources picked it up in rapid order.
I have neither dog in this fight. But, Christ, Barnett is a douchebag. Look, Andrew Sullivan wrote that Atlantic post. Barnett's thing is titled "Anatomy of a Smear," and purports to explain "the left’s method of smear dissemination."
Oh that naughty Andrew! Disseminating leftist smears again!
Of course, maybe THE LEFT really should have its act together when it comes to covertly manipulating public opinion by filtering dishonest bullshit through some sort of powerful media institution. I mean, look what we're up against. The Left might want to get on work on that.
UPDATE. In added fun, bon vivant, raconteur, and shithead RS MaCain adduces the popularity of Sarah Palin in Colorado Springs to advance the thesis that "Palin is clearly a phenomenon." Which is one word for her.

Wait until you see MoDo's latest and greatest. You'll laugh; you'll cry.
You will also, however, need a bucket to throw up in -- though this is nothing unusual regarding the purgative quality of Mo's, uh, prose.

Pardon me, but what evidence from the primary suggests that Hillary would fail to give McCain such a tongue-bathing, excepting a partly mythological view of her toughness? I've seen a great deal of her zeal at employing rhetorical opposition and sneering at fellow Democrats, but I just haven't seen her with that zeal against McCain or Republicans in general. Am I missing something?
