Cuz waking up is hard to do
by Ripley

Good Sunday morning, kids! It's a beautiful start to the day in Smalltown, USA and, I hope, where you are, as well. Rub the sleep from your eyes, grab a cup of Joe (or six), and tell us about your Sunday. Big plans? Or just planning to relax?
I missed the big forum at Saddleback Church, last night, but enh... I'm sure it'll be dissected from Hell to breakfast by the yammering chatterboxes this morning. Personally, I'm already tired of campaign news, and it's only going to get worse over the next few months. Wouldn't it be nice if they treated us like adults for a change? Well, 'shocking' might be a more accurate word. But a guy can dream, can't he?
I'm still working on the waking-up part of my morning, but here are a couple items that caught my eye:
Marueen Dowd sinks her teeth into... the Bush administration? Huh???
The NYT asks: Is Jon Stewart the Most Trusted Man in America?
Most important, at a time when Fox, MSNBC and CNN routinely mix news and entertainment, larding their 24-hour schedules with bloviation fests and marathon coverage of sexual predators and dead celebrities, it’s been “The Daily Show” that has tenaciously tracked big, “super depressing” issues like the cherry-picking of prewar intelligence, the politicization of the Department of Justice and the efforts of the Bush White House to augment its executive power.
Score one for the good guys!
Here's something pleasant to start the day:
Round Midnight - Thelonius Monk (Norway, 1966)
w/ Charlie Rouse, Larry Gales, Ben Riley
What else is going on out there? Anyone have an interesting story to share?
Rip -

That NYT story on Jon Stewart is about 5 years behind, so it must be true.
Reality + 5 years = MSM coverage.

I sent back the for-shit patio furniture I ordered from The Domestications Catalog and bought myself some 'too-expensive-already-built-and-delivered' patio furniture and I am going to lay out in my yard this morning.

I think that Stewart kid is gonna go places!
Jim, don't forget the bloody mary!

I may finally get dressed this weekend and go to the store. But only 'cos I'm outta beer and cigs.
And that Jon Stewart kid's just a flash in the pan. Mark my words!

Dowd is just trying to prove that she can do it, but she's much funnier when she is jabbing Dems. Ridiculing Republicans is too easy and too tragic.
I do hope the phrase Cheerleader-in-Chief catches on.

Marueen Dowd sinks her teeth into... the Bush administration?
Well, you know the theory -- a thousand MoDos; a thousand typewriters...
