There Is No Longer Fight

John Derbyshire, in his own words:

Nothing in any of Maliki's "inartful" statements is the least bit surprising to a "To Hell With Them" Hawk.  This absurd and insane desire to be loved and admired by foreigners will be the death of this republic.

Now that our American blood and money has seen off most of the enemies of Maliki and his Iranian pals, it is perfectly natural for them to believe they can finish the job themselves, without further assistance from us. Maliki can now afford to start putting distance between himself and the U.S.A. — essential for political viability in a region where the U.S.A. is pretty generally hated.

We should tell Maliki, loudly and in public, that he owes his job to us, and that further prosecution of our military operations in his country will be conducted with regard only to U.S. interests, as determined in consensus by our established domestic political processes. And if he doesn't like that, he can go to hell.

John Derbyshire, the Wizard of the Wingnut Id.

MORE. Elsewhere, Ramesh Ponnuru, author of this book with a title that is not mean at all, claims that Michelle Obama is mean when she says that Americans are "mean."  Ponnuru's colleague Derbyshire, of course, is not remotely "mean" in telling Maliki to "go to hell." Derbyshire says that out of love and is basically a hippie.

What could possibly go wrong?

Soooo...what the heck did go in there for anyway?

But it's not a colony. No. No, sir. Not a bit.

Sovereignty is for pussies.

Someone should remind the Derb that Maliki lives in Iraq.

Hell would be an improvement.

Well, the 1st and 3rd paragraphs are written to be idiotic enough to mask the 2nd paragraph, in which Derb is actually correct.

Heckofajob Bushie! And you Republicans too. You'll be in power again roughly the next time after never. I mean you're losing to Democrats! Do you know how hard that is?

My concern is for the poor chiropractors . Just the budget adjustments to start including calcium growths alone is going require some hefty no bid contracts , at least .
Perhaps there is a silver cloud that lines an ill wind that blows an Empire , ah nuts .

Derbyshire once again demonstrating the incisive, cutting edge analysis for which he is so widely renowned. That and his forward thinking, imminently pragmatic policy proposals will unquestionably secure him a treasured spot in the political wankers hall of fame.

...Wizard of the Wingnut Id.

That isn't some terrible fusion between Johnny Hart's old Wizard Of Id comic strip, and Forbidden Planet ("Monsters from the Id!"), is it?

Wait a minute.
Maliki has Iranian pals?
This can't be. Iran is a part of the Axis of Evil. We support Maliki because he's not that evil madman Saddam Whatshisnameagain, who we overthrew and hung in a triumph for freedom over despotism.
Five years and hundreds of thousands of deaths later, the good guys insist they aren't occupiers and they just want to kill all the bad guys to help Maliki.
Now, this week, they tell us the bad guys are gone. The good guys say the war is over. The 20-month surge is a great success.
McSame says the surge is over. That dork from the Brookings Institute says we are close to winning the war.
But we can't leave and that Maliki guy should now go to hell.
Ohmygod, did someone drop a gallon of brown acid in the Freedom Fries?!!

The thing is, though, I'm afraid that if you spend too much time trying to understand what Derbyshire is saying, you could run the risk of becoming like him.

So we have now defined 'victory' in Iraq?

Victory is being able to say 'go to hell'.....

Please pass the Wite Out. I still had "a just and honorable peace".

Well, at least give Derb credit for honesty. He's telling Maliki to go to hell while the other neocons are still fumphering that Maliki didn't really mean what he said about wanting the U.S. out.
