This is at least one of the top two most disrespectful posts in the Left Blogosphere on the subject of this particular expired bigot, as it features the word "motherfucker." Martini Revolution says "good fucking riddance," and Comments from Left Field remarks that he was a "racist, homophobic assbag," which are both accurate and morally unexceptionable, but do not rise to the level of "motherfucker." I'm not sure we've surpassed TBogg's observation that Senator Helms is currently getting ass-fucked by Roy Cohn in Hell, however.
These are crucial distinctions and it is important to get them right.

In the not too near future, liberals and Americans alike will lose Ted Kennedy. Although I agree with none of his politics and even less of his personal endeavors, I will have respect for his passing and for his service. For a party that spews tolerance, a good look in the mirror should be required. Peace.

He didn't "happen" to have that R. He took it so he could use his sadistic bigotry in pursuit of power over people who were simply trying to live without having to fight off sadistic bigots. I don't have to "wish" him to the deepest bowels of hell because -- if there is a hell -- I know he's there. And as for his family -- what respect did he show for the families of people who had a different skin color, when he proclaimed that they shouldn't be allowed even to work in the same fucking sweatshops as his?
When the party of Lincoln accepted Jesse Helms as a member, it sold its soul to the devil. Anybody who "happens" to have an R in front of their name after that deserves whatever they get.
