I Smiled Like an Electric Child
This happens very, very rarely, but I would like to point out that on one particular topic, Rudy Giuliani's chances of becoming president, I was actually prescient.
Rudy is running on his reputation as yesterday's asshole. Never say never, but I can't see how someone whose entire career rests on his rep as a being a total New York City jerk is ever going to win over America's Heartland.
Go figure.
Anyway, the reason McCain is the GOP nominee is that they have no one else.
And the reason they have no one else? Because they got nothing.
The GOP is running on fumes, and not in their usual sense, where they're huffing straight from the propane tank.
Gonna miss Edwards. A good man who did good.
Oh well.

It's sad really, because the GOP used to have some pretty decent politicians in it's ranks. Not necessarily guys I agreed with, but reasonable men who deserved respect like Nelson Rockefeller, Barry Goldwater and Jerry Ford.
Bob Dole's still around but he's working as a greeter at Walmart.
Now they all seem batshit crazy.

Now they all seem batshit crazy.
Yeah, and their cutting edge is Malkin and Red State.
Their problem is, they got nothing except The Crazy.
All they can do is a lot of damage. Which they will, cheerfully.

And guess what? I'm pretty sure McCain is just as big an asshole as Rudy.
WHen the heartland sees the real him, he'll be toast too.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an Obama/Edwards ticket in th emaking.

Sorry, but no. With the Dems, it's all about defensive politics. Both Clinton and Obama have to pick a white male with strong military credentials to "reassure" those voters who are concerned that a woman or person of color won't be muscular enough on military questions. Whether such people actually exist oustside of David Broder's head is besides the point - the Dems must "reassure" them anyway.
If either Clinton or Obama gets it, I'm putting my money on Wesley Clark for V.P.

All that "America's Mayor" bullshit was fine when he was at a safe distance, a mere ceremonial figure. It's kind of like when people purported to support the Yankees after 9-11, but when Arizona beat them in the World Series that year, everybody outside of New York was happier than shit.

As much as I like Wes Clark, I don't think he'll get veep. My guess is it will be somebody, much, much worse. Evan Bayh perhaps.
I don't think Edwards really wants another run in the two slot either.

Clark is much more likely for HRC than Obama; he's a Clinton ally.

OK, here's my revised predictions:
Clinton/Clark
Obama/Petraeus
Any questions?

Thers, Clark already endorsed Hillary.

I kind of like Obama/Richardson, or is a black/hispanic ticket just too much for the heartland?
