This is a pretty elementary point but one that bears repeating: the reason George W. Bush is a wildly unpopular president is that everyone knows he's a liar. His numbers will never recover because just like manure does not go back into the cow, lies, once exposed, remain untrue, and liars do not become honest. Neither will the dead people who are dead because of his lies come back to life. Which is an Important Consideration: when Bill Clinton lied, nobody died. And anyway Bill Clinton never posed as the antithesis of... Bill Clinton. "Honor" has not been restored to the White House -- though after 9/11 lots of people hoped it was, likely against their better judgment and in spite of their good old American cynicism. Besides, it's one thing to get conned: it's when you find out you got conned by someone you always sort of knew was full of shit, and also kind of a clown, that you get really pissed off.
President Bush said Tuesday that the international community should continue to pressure Iran on its nuclear programs, saying Tehran remains dangerous despite a new intelligence report finding it halted its development of a nuclear bomb.
"I view this report as a warning signal that they had the program, they halted the program," Bush said. "The reason why it's a warning signal is they could restart it."
Hell of a legacy, Bushie.
