Brag and Complain
Wingnuttia is getting upset, yawn, at the General's question:
A retired Army general, Keith Kerr, just listed all his military credentials and then left the crowd silent by saying at the end of his video that he is "an openly gay man" and wants to know why gays can't serve in the military.
Kerr is apparently a Democratic Plant sent to ruin the GOP debate.
Whatever.
But... If any of the GOP candidates were able to produce any goddamn coherent answer to the question, you know, it wouldn't be embarrassing. The reason it's embarrassing is that on this policy issue the GOP candidates can't answer it in a way that will please both their base and, well, people who aren't crazy.
UPDATE: Man, they're really bouncing off the walls.... The really hilarious thing is that the reason CNN selected the people they did was likely that the actual wingnut questions were, well, too wingnuty for prime time...

Wow, did Mitt stumble at the debate or what? Analyst Michael Eisenstadt wrote a great piece tonight about the lessons of Annapolis and puts the debate between Rudy vs. Mitt in that context. Pretty provocative stuff that points to Rudy as the obvious candidate for the GOP: http://michaeleisenstadt.com/2007/11/28/a-lesson-learned/

You don't understand, Thers!
He SUPPORTS HILLARY CLINTON!
Eeek! (faint)
(Seriously, that's the meme this morning, that he's a "Clinton staffer.")

Wait...we had a gay general?
No wonder Al Qaeda was able to strike us without any warning, besides a PDB and a few dozen intelligence briefings, oh, and a couple dozen warnings from other countries...our defense services were picking drapes!

From your link to Memeorandum:
"lead toy questioner is a prominent union activist"
They had toy questioners? And does "lead" mean lead, the element, or is a "lead toy questioner" the one that gets top billing in the program, above all the supporting toy questioners?

Steve,
I think it means that one of the questioners waterboarded Barbie.

Oh man, if that's not a fucking concept, I don't know what is:
NEW Waterboard Barbie! Complete with towel, wooden plank, and blindfold!

And, just in time for the Christmas season, it's Tchaikovsky's March of the Lead Toy Questioners.

I love how they are all calling for a 'do-over' yet don't actually provide questions that they think should have been asked. All they know is that it made the GOP look bad.
I know it must be the "liberal media"!

...don't actually provide questions that they think should have been asked.
"Mayor Giuliani, is there any single event that you think demonstrates your ability to exercise effective leadership in a crisis?"
"Senator Thompson, what's Harrison Ford really like?"

It's the Clinton News Network!
Just ask Rush!

Brigadier General: i'm a General and I'm gay -

Hunter: thanks for your mincing service but looks israel and

are judeo-christian Republicans and they would just hate
people like you too much
Romney: i laff when i think of don't ask don't tell
but now i think it worked
Cooper: answer the question
Mitt: no i refuse
Posted by: Culture of Truth | November 30, 2007 at 10:26 PM
General: i was a gay soldier for 42 years
Huckabee: jesus it's a wonder we survived as a nation
Hunter: i'm surprised your fellow judeo-christians didn't kill you
General: there are lots of gay soldiers
[booooooo!!!!]
General: what about gay soliders?
McCain: how dare you bash our military!!!
Gay Guy: gay republicans?
Huckabee: i hate gays but they can vote for me if they want
Cooper: that sounds pretty shitty
Huckabee: yeah but i have integrity

Aren't you more than a little embarrassed at your own party's lack of support for letting gay men and women openly serve? I mean, the Republicans at least don't PRETEND to support gay rights, while doing nothing for gay rights. Words aren't the same as actions. It was Clinton who came up with the Don't Ask, Don't Tell fiasco that ended up rooting out even more gays. And Edwards has expressed his open opposition to homosexuals. The Gerneal (who was obviously planted) should go and ask the Democratic candidates these questions.

Dr T, perhaps you missed the August 9 Democratic debate...? You can watch it here.
I didn't mind HRC nor any of the other candidates getting grilled on their positions on gay issues -- and indeed all of them said they would end DADT and all support at least civil unions.
The point is, the Democratic candidates DID answer these questions. You can even look it up! On the computer!
My point in the post stands. Nice try, though.
