My Kind of Soldier
Mr. Confederate Yankee continues to pretend that if you think anything is dodgy about the Petraeus Report, you Hate the Troops, because General Petraeus is The Troops. He bases this argument upon a Washington Times article and the fact that back in January Senate Democrats voted to confirm General Petraeus as Iraq Commander Guy. General "Troops" Petraeus is thus always and forever immune to all criticism, much as the Cootie Shot provides enduring protection against Cooties.
Never mind the unconvincing games about the Iraqi casualty figures! After all, the MSM hates Troops Petraeus as well, don't you know.
UPDATE: The idiocy spreads, much in the manner of pubic lice. Macsmind scratches his persistent rash by opining of the Democrats that
I want them to begin to belittle General Patraus and Crocker before the American people, calling them in effect “liars”, because they won’t be able to do so without slandering the very troops in combat that they say they support.
General Petraeus is not the troops, and the numbers being used to support The Surge are dishonest. That's the reality. Mac's countervailing theory that all reports disputing the military's statistics are the result of Democratic Machiavellan plotting is not likely to be convincing to anyone but the unredeemably benighted 33% of the population who are as convinced of their righteousness as swine are convinced of the great taste of their offal.
UPDATE: Saw this in Macsmind's sidebar:
I just bet you do, too.

Clever Democrats! Calling the Petraeus report the "Bush report". And then actually demonstrating some discipline in the use of this term:
The top Democrats — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California — also referred to the general's briefing as the "Bush report."
Baby steps, but steps just the same.

Baby steps, but steps just the same.
Oh, I agree. But why oh why must they hate the troops! Bush is a troop too, in his own way... or something.

Bush is a troop too, in his own way... or something.
I'm inspired by his decision to abandon his dreams of valor and the glory of combat, choosing, instead, to adopt the workaday life of a simple monarch.

I want them to begin to belittle General Patraus and Crocker...
"Crocker" is Chester Crocker, our ambassador to Iraq, who is, apparently, a troop too.
I'm starting to think that the 40,000 additional "troops" we sent to Iraq for the surge were all of the Ambassador Chester Crocker variety.

Huh? Is Patraus something like Judenraus?
And, sorry, everybody knows Crocker worked for Kojak, not Petraeus.

I liked this rhetorical technique better the first time I heard it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did. But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!"

So, wait... are we supposed to slander the troops now or not? I want to get my liberal talking points prepared but his demand was a little vague.
Also, I'd expect a true Patriot to spell his minty fresh(!) General's name correctly.

Too bad ol' gun counter gomer has that bad knee. If only they'd let him enlist, this war would be over.
