Cap'n Ed finds an article in the liberal NY Times that causes him to emanate savage little yawps of triumph, of the sort commonly associated with unloved mongrel puppies who live next door to poorly run slaughterhouses. Mmmmm, offal.
Let's go no further than the first sentence of his post. I am given to understand that excessive idiocy can cause certain sensitive people to stab themselves in the eye with a fork. Two sentences of a Cap'n Ed post would thus be tempting the Fates.
Just as the Democrats have raised the white flag on Iraq, the New York Times reports that the surge strategy has started paying off in Anbar.
(Takes quill to parchment)
Dear Captain Ed, Seafaring Cretin:
When one links to an article, one ought to read it. There is absolutely nothing in the NYT piece to suggest the "surge strategy" has fuck-all to do with the events in Anbar. Here, look at this:
The turnabout began last September, when a federation of tribes in the Ramadi area came together as the Anbar Salvation Council to oppose the fundamentalist militants of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia.
Last September, the "surge" was not yet a corn kernel in Fred Kagan's scat.
